meat puppets Sam Hill

So, I saw the Meat Puppets when they played in Boulder in May. Man, it was so great, i wet the pants of myself and several people around me. They opened with Sam, which was funny(it was fun and funny so I laughed) because I was thinking about Sam Hill as I drove over the hill into Boulder.
Some dumd young prick moshed into me. Dude, the 70s 80s 90s are over. If you ever do that again, I will throw my metamucil at you and smash you with my walker.
But I am so glad to see the Meat puppets back playing live together. They sound so good. I cant wait to hear the new album. I love that some things never change, like what you really, really love.

Transcripts from Ward Churhill hearing

Hank Brown: "So, mister dirty filthy hippie riot instigator, you think you have some kind of right to say what you think?"

Ward Churchill: "you mean like my constitutional rights to freedom of speech?"

Hank Brown: "Yeah like that! Well let me set you straight, the GOP has gotten rid of that crap, along with anything that stops the corporations from total domination of planet earth, Muh hahaha!"

Ward Churchill: " I must admit I am a little stunned by your candor. Your transparency is appreciated, and even I am a little shocked. But FU! I am not going anywhere. My lawyers are going to fight this injustice every step of the way. The people will not stand for this!"

Brown: "The people? HAHAHAHAHHA< thats rich! the only people who would stand up for you are so marginalized that they are ignored by anybody with any power. The only people who would give a crap about your academic freedom are working on keeping themselves out of GITMO! The rest of the nation is getting a frontal lobotomy from a big screened tv they paid for! Muh hahaha!

Churchill: "When this gets out to the media..."

Brown: "When this get to our allies at the media the headlines will read "WARD CHURCHILL DEMANDS RIGHT TO KILL REMAINING 911 ATTACK SURVIVORS" The independent media will be to busy covering bigger scandals! Muh hahaha!"

Churchill : "ow, what the hell.... (faints from dart shot into neck from young republican)

Brown: "TO Arms young republicans!Join us as we cleanse Boulder forever. The 90s are over, along with any decade or movement giving resistance to our domination! CU will forever stand for football and academic yes men! We will graduate the finest bunch of WASP MBA's ever! All wealth will flow to the top of the pyramid, from which we shall do as we please!!!"

And on that note the meeting was adjourned, the young republicans joined Brown as they marched through Boulder, spraying hippies with bleach water, forcing vagrants on buses to other communities and trampling public gardens. And of course, welding public drinking fountains shut so that sales of bottled water would go up. Ward Churchill's unfortunate accident was planned. Plane wreck.

plan in my head

I have a plan in my head for a bicycle powered washing machine. Now I need to get it from head to garage. I suppose I could make like an engineer and make diagrams. I am more of the dive in and start type person than the plan ahead on paper.

sticker hacker!

I was at a race on the fourth of July in support of the ACLU. Lots of cool people were there, great events, great race, great fun, great booths, great all around. I found a sticker in my goodie bag for AM 760, Boulder progressive talk. They are great for talk radio, and I find Jay Marvin to be exceptional, genuinely moving his listeners towards a greater understanding of their world. That being said, AM 760 is owned by clear channel, and embedded with all that right wing corporate control of OUR airwaves. (You Too Kbco)

SO here is what I made from their sticker. You can also use stickers cut into strips as non legible colorful tape. PEACE! Art

So why don't I Like Ward Churchill?

I was impressed to see Ron Zapollo from none other than FOX News give Ward Churchill an interview. I expect much less of Fox, though Zapallo has revealed he is more than a sports news expert teleprompter reader with great hair. A tele journalist who cares about the free flow of IDEAS? Lets hope for more.
But I was thinking about my own thoughts on Ward. Why don't I like him? Its not that he is so Unlike Ward Cleaver, Of beaver fame. I like Counter cultural people and the I ideas they bring. I listen to KGNU and their excellent broadcasts, many of which include such luminaries as Angela Davis, Howard Zinn and Studs Terkel. They have great stuff on KGNU!enlightening programs like the Bioneers, TUC radio and Its own paradigm challenging programs. Right on KGNU!
But back to Ward. Maybe its his demeanor. He seems like the arrogant type that would stiff you on a tip (the surest measure of ones character is ones ability to share, ask any server) and act like he received sub par service. Howard Zinn on the other hand, seems like the kind of person who would go to Dunkin Donuts, and leave his change in the tip jar, not even bothering to count it. Naom CHompsky seems like the sort of person who would tip $2 on a pizza but not much more. But I still like Naom in spite of his aloof demeanor. He seems to think everyone who has access to his lectures is an ivy league graduate who has fondness for Beethoven's later sonatas. I say Bach played by Edgar Meyer kicks Beethoven's ass, but we all like the ninth.
But I digress. On Ward Churchill I can only guess its because he strikes me as an insincere bully who likes to be mad at the establishment all the time and was only hired to lure young easily impressed idealists to boulder, keeping tuition up and giving them plenty of money for other programs. Like Space and science and stuff with better dividends than justice.
Or perhaps I am the prick. Perhaps I am selfish and so focused on my own struggles I do not have a rats ass left to contribute to some guy in Boulder who cares more deeply for the struggles of Indigenous people than I will ever know. I just hope he realizes that the $90 thousand he makes a year is not small change to any of the working people of Colorado, my native home.
