Awareness!

What does it mean to be aware? To know right from wrong, to know that you are going to die, to wonder how you got here? If you live like a dog and know only when you have eaten or not do you sleep deeply and sound> My dog says yes, not with words but with body language.

done with time travel..for now

well, not entirely done with time travel, I will still travel at the rate of 1/365th of an earth year per year, or normal earth time. Time tavel has many health risks, among them being traped between two times for all eternity. Of course if you are stuck in this eternity with someone with an agenda to push, it will seems even longer.

I am glad to have visited 2038 and have seen a glimpse of what we can be. I am also really glad I did not get time travelers ear, a condition marked by ears growing on your skin all over your body. Its like acne but makes little ears. I guess people who are really into music like it, but it definitely scares the average person.

Man, I wish I could see one more game of costumed stilted musical baseball. That was great!

ENJOY YOURSELF, its later than you think

If I must review the Film, CRUDE AWAKENING, I would give it four out of five gallons of gas. Its really well done, shows how we will run out of crude oil, and our civilization will crumble to tiny pieces, or go back to an Amish lifestyle. HA! The Amish are ahead of their time! I found the film a little bleak and depressing. But, without the enthusiasm and zany charm of Al Gore, there is only so much one can do.

There is a new car that runs off compressed air by the way! I love it! Only problem is that is charged by machines that ultimately run on fossil fuel. But still, I want one!

And as the era of oil draws to a close, I say, enjoy acai juice while you can. After oil reaches, oh lets say $200 a barrel, will it still make sense to have it imported all the way from South America? Nope. And the Berry pickers will have to find new work. But that's months away people. Be here now. And when oil goes away, Concord grape juice is actually just as good. Honestly it is. There is much complexity to our energy wants. Lets roll (on non petroleum powered vehicles, say, oh, a bicycle!)

another trip around the sun

another year is up. Last year my resolution was to be more like my dog. By that I meant to be more laid back, have great looking hair at all times, and have whoever was walking with me get complimented on how good I look.

While that did not happen, I did start eating meat after 18 years of being a vegetarian. The answer to why is pretty complex. For years, doing as little harm to animals as I could was an integral part of who I was. My diet shaped my world outlook, my social circle, and my self definition. But we no longer have Gluten in our house, which is in most meat substitutes. Short answer, it was time to try something new. While I still love tofu, recommend a vegetarian diet to anybody inclined to try it, I must confess, eating meat seems to feel quite natural. Lots of animals eat animals, and those that do not have to be ever vigilant to protect their lives. At any rate, barbecue equals good meal to my senses again. But yes, tofu and veggies can make a fine meal too.

So am I more like my dog? Well, yes and no. I still pay bills, bother with tools and money and clothes and stuff. But now i take time to howl at the moon and to rub my back in the lawn.

So what is my resolution for next year? Be a better planner. And to be more specific. And to eat whatever smells good! Aroooooo!
